"The renewal of the mountains, when peach blossoms adorn the valleys with infinite shades."

Spring in Sapa: A renewal in three stages

Spring is, along with autumn, the best time to visit Sapa. But it is a spring in three stages that must be clearly distinguished: March is a transition month, still marked by mists; April is an almost perfect bracket; May opens the green season but also announces the first rains.

Note: The terraced rice fields are empty in spring.

It's not the season of vast sheets of green, but it is something else, softer. The bare terraces reveal their curves, the villages are quiet, and nature wakes up in a sincere and intimate spectacle.

What is the weather like in Sapa in spring?

The best luminous periods are March-April, with an ideal climate for hiking between March and May. Here is the month-by-month data:

Month Min Temp Max Temp Precipitation Dry Days
March 12°C 20°C ~60 mm ~21 days
April 15°C 23°C ~110 mm ~15 days
May 18°C 25°C ~180 mm ~10 days

March: Transition

Early spring. Winter mist is still present in the mornings, but by mid-March, days lengthen and the first blossoms (peach, plum) appear.

Ideal for: Flexible travelers and tight budgets (affordable prices).

April: The Peak

Our main recommendation. Ideal temperatures for hiking (15–23°C), without crushing humidity. Rice fields are watered, offering spectacular mirrored landscapes.

Ideal for: All profiles (hiking, family, photo).

May: Agricultural Life

Heat rises (up to 25–28°C) and the first rains arrive. It's the fascinating time of rice transplanting: H'mong and Dao families work in groups in the terraces.

Ideal for: Fans of agricultural life and early photographers.
